The Ramblings of a Not Very Stable Writer

“Back to Church: A Trump-Free Zone (Thank God!)”

After years of faithfully (or maybe not so faithfully) staying away from organized religion, we decided to brave our return the Sunday before the Trump inauguration. Picture this: a medium-sized Southern Baptist church, the air thick with anticipation and reservations. …

Just Not Very Stable

Yeah, not very stable describes me. It’s not that I’m nuts. It’s that at any one second I can be focused and ready to go. Then in the next second, I can be flying off into the oblivion of another idea or another project. My doctor thinks it’s too much caffeine. Quite honestly, I think it’s more there is just too much to do, get done, and say. So in each twenty-four Earth day, I need the 243 Earth days of one Venus day. If only I could make that happen. I just might catch up.

However, a good friend of mine keeps telling me, “You don’t catch up until you die.” Hopefully I don’t catch up too soon.

If you have the time and the patients to chase my brain around a few rabbit holes, by all means come around sometime. But overall, here’s the things I think you might want to follow:

Important to Follow:

  • Israel vs. Hamas – regional conflict or the beginning of WWIII? I pray for the former. I fear for the later.
  • Ukraine/Russia War – Will anyone ever win or will it slog into the next forever war or maybe a World War?
  • Politics in America – Grab your popcorn and laugh and cry….your one vote did not matter unless you attached $250 million to it. But let’s be real, it probably never did.
  • The Weather – No matter where you are, you will melt. At least until you freeze. Climate change is here. At some time it will come for you.
  • Your Crazy Friends and Families – Now there is some entertainment worth watching. I know mine is.
  • Me – Why? Because maybe one day I’ll say something worth listening to. But don’t hold your breath.

I have been writing all my life it seems like. Since I have zoomed past the age of Social Security, I have a lot that I have written. However, it hasn’t been until now that I’ve taken the time to start putting it all together while I continue onto new writings and continued adventures in living.

I won’t bore you with the details about who I am here. There is another page for that. Travel there if you care.

Here, I want to tell you that I am hoping that you will come on this writing journey with me. I have a few novels I’m working on, a bunch of short stories and essays written. I possess quite a number of screenplays also in various levels of completion. As any who knows me will tell you, I also have an ego large enough to help me know everything at everytime until I forget it in the next moment. but wise enough to solve the world’s problems. Yep, that is me.

But my real goal here is to get the writing done, even as I spiral toward the end of my time here on this rock. It’s been a wild and sometimes great ride. Hopefully, I will have a few more crazy adventures left in me, especially with my favorite creatures, my grandchildren.

As to the writing, here’s to me hopefully putting the finishing touches on the millions of words I’ve produced. Then I can sit back and enjoy others throwing tomatoes at me, hopefully only figuratively.

So welcome to my world. It’s a wild place in my mind, which is about as unruly at times as a politician in an election year or a toddler in potty training. I just wish politicians could grow into toddlers.

My final thought though is simple. In all you do in life, choose joy. It is better than just happiness that depends on something else to validate it. Choose joy because it is a choice. It is something that is of itself.
