Congress Saves the Day – From Itself

Another Budget Kicks The Budget Can Down the Driveway

Good morning, America. Today in honor of the heroic efforts of Congress, they have deservedly taken the day off. But after their less-than-ordinary show in leadership, Congress saves the day – from itself. And now these courageous patriots are fleeing the onslaught of snow and running home. Yet Americans can celebrate the fact that they have at least risen to this low bar. We can all breathe a sigh of relief. Another government shutdown has been averted. At least for a little over a month. But take heart, they have only fled DC and the snow. After all, it is Congress staying to do their jobs that maybe we should fear the most.

With a bipartisan bill Congress kicks the budget can down the driveway. I would say they have sought to kick the issue down the road, but a month does not a road make. So like a bored child, Congress has kicked the can just far enough that it can walk up to it and kick it again. And then again. And then again. Yep, just like a bored kid who thinks they have nothing to do.

Of course Congress could be right. They probably don’t have anything to do. After all, the war in Ukraine is over as is the war in Gaza. The budgets are all passed. The tide of immigrants are safely nestled into new homes. The next election is secure. The nation is more united than ever as we all celebrate our equality of lives in the land of the free.

I love living in my virtua reality of what life could be like. It’s like turning off the truth of the world and ignoring anything negative. I haven’t decided if that would be the world of a stoner or maybe just a member of Congress. After all neither is in touch with the world or reality. But at least Congress was able to kick the can down the driveway without falling and breaking an arm. That’s at least something.
