Station Offers Counter Programming Instead of Hearings
June 9, 2022
I have been around for a long time. With over twenty years of military service and over sixty years of life, I have seen a lot. Yet I have never seen a “news” station purposefully refuse to show a major news story. And whether you agree with it or not, a primetime Congressional hearing is news. But then again, until its launch, there had never been a “news” organization quite like Fox. Yet tonight, June 9, 2022, Fox News decided to be AWOL for America.
The good news is that it allowed some of my Fox friends and family to watch the hearings on a non-Fox station. For the ones who joined me personally, we also went back and forth between those stations and Fox. It allowed them to see what I have said for a long time. When you watch Fox you get only what they choose to spoon-feed you, especially from their opinion shows. The response was quite surprising., at least for them. For me, I could have written the Fox pieces in my sleep.
After watching the committee’s presentation these Foxies were all horrified by what they saw and heard. They also questioned what they actually knew about the incidents of January 6th. They also had questions about Trump’s actions after the election. It’s not that they are ready to change their minds about Fox or Trump. But they just ended the hearing with a confused look on their faces.
I don’t know if this will have any long time effect on the Foxies. For years they have referred to each and every Fox Opinion personality by their first names as if they were friends. And in that view, they accepted what their “friends” told them. After all, would a “friend” lie to you?
So I have no illusions about this single event moving the needle. However, one interesting thing did happen. One Foxie wanted to go back to CNN after the hearing. They wanted to listen to the commentary there. First, as she noted, Fox wasn’t doing any analysis right after. But more importantly, they had seen another old Fox personality on CNN before the start of the hearing. So they wanted to turn in to hear Chris Wallace, another old “friend.”
