CD Agrabrite’s Political Views
Since I find myself beginning down a path of writing more on politics I think I should clarify my positions.
Key positions
- I have never been registered in any party.
- I have voted for both Republicans and Democrats
- I have been a moderator for a Republican site in the past
- I provided support for the White House in some support Reagan/Bush era
- I attended George HW Bush’s inauguration as a guest
- I think both parties are wrong a lot of the time
- I think the two-party system is the biggest problem in our government
Other positions
- I am against the filibuster in all forms – not Constitutional
- I think elected officials should not be able to trade stock. However, if allowed to trade, all trades should be reviewed by the SEC for conflict of interest and insider trading concerns, and results published
- I am for term limits
- I am also against Congress and Senate getting government retirements – that would fix the term limit problem I’m sure
- Congressional size should represent a proportional representation as allowed by the Constitution. It was only Congress that limited the size of its own body.
- All Congressional emails and correspondence concerning congressional business should be available to the public
- The Congress, Senate, President, Vice President, and all Cabinet members should have their taxes audited annually and results of the audits made available to the public
- All visitors logs for all entities should be available online in real-time
Additional Position on Congressional retirement
On Congressional retirement, here’s a note from Wikipedia on the issue:
“It was not until after the war, in 1946, that Congress would be covered under the CSRS with the passage of P.L. 79-601. The justification this time was that a pension would “bring into the legislative service a larger number of younger members with fresh energy and new viewpoints” by encouraging older Members to retire.”
Goals:
Larger number of younger members
Fresh energy
New viewpoints
Encouraging older members to retire
So since the bill failed in its justification, it’s probably time to kill the retirement.
