What Do Republicans and Kindergarterners Have in Common – Recess!!

Have a vote. Lose the vote. Adjorn for Recess. Rinse. Repeat.

It’s crazy that I always thought that politicians and two year olds have a lot in common. Bickering over nothing. Whinning about everything. Hurt when they don’t get their way. Throwing a tantrum just because. But I at least give the two year olds credit. They aren’t old enough to know better. Politicians will never get old enough to know any better. Just look at some of our elder “statesmen” now.

Yet right now, it seems that the Congressional Republicans have decided that they want to go back in time once again. Back to a better time in their lives. Back to when life was good and the future was bright. Back to Kindergarten.

Back then you really weren’t expect to do much. Check.

You didn’t have to clean up your own messes. Check.

You didn’t have to do the right thing most of the time. Check.

You could loaf all the time. Check.

But most importantly, you got to do as little as possible and then run off for recess. And that was it for the day.

With fifteen days gone since Kevin McCarthy was ousted, the Republican house has enjoyed more recess than even my five year old granddaughter. I think if she knew about it, she’d be jealous and say that’s what she’d want to be when she grew up. After all, how many jobs pay a great wage for doing little, loafing a lot and having unlimited recess. Yes, I think Congress has decided to live out every kindergarter’s fantasy. Now if we could just send them to their rooms without any supper until they can come out a play well with others.
